Description
Experience the magic of Finnish education in the city where it all began. This tour blends the rich history of the “Athens of Finland” with a workshop centered on the world-renowned Finnish hands-on learning approach. We begin with a guided walk through the landmarks that shaped Finland’s identity, starting at the stunning university campus designed by the world famous architect Alvar Aalto.
As the birthplace of the first Finnish-speaking teacher training college, and a candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the University of Jyväskylä offers a unique look into the roots. Visit the Mäki-Matti Family Park, the oldest family park in Finland which illustrates the long-standing commitment to early childhood development.
After the tour you’re welcome to participate in our playful learning workshop. Adapted to the actual participants (open for families, youth, adults, educators etc.), this session explores learning through creativity and play that makes Finnish early childhood education so successful. Have fun and enjoy traditional Finnish “pulla” (pastry) and coffee. The event concludes with an open Q&A session.
